The Great Invitation and the Gift

Dear Beloveds,

I hope you are feeling grounded, held, and strong, no matter the current circumstances of the movie of your life. I hope your Beliefs help you believe in the beauty of life and the potential each day gifts us with. I hope your Beliefs help you expand your world and create spaciousness between YOU and your life experiences – these are not the same things. I hope your Beliefs help you change your mind when it is necessary to do so. Change is fertile ground for growth.

The world has been carved up by the great powers which have spiritually and economically dominated people, pushing them to strive for national dignity and nationhood. Ancestral wisdom and customs and traditional economics have been disrupted, and human energy and skills have been harnessed for the advantage of the conquerors and the disadvantage of the natural world. There are still people in the world today who regard anti-Black racism and White supremacy as race problems, a simple clash between Black and White. The world's wealthy few and their governments have promoted this narrative across the world, obscuring the real issues in the human crisis. This has greatly reduced the likelihood of the real problem being understood.

These times we find ourselves in are no different to the times of the Bible, when men were downtrodden, with many consumed by despair – a time of moral collapse and social unrest. It’s a time when attempts are being made, in every facet of our lives, to debase God in man, and to set a limit on human beings, particularly those in bodies of colour, striving to serve their Creator to the best of their ability. It’s a time in which we perhaps should look more closely at the beauty and the sweetness of The Great Invitation and the Gift that lies within that invitation.

Conscious Conversations features spiritual teachers, seers, and thought leaders who, through their insights, help our listeners gather tools that can aid them in navigating life, enriching their lives – mind, body, and spirit. Our intention is to share with our community a deeper perspective about spiritual awakening, the journey that follows, and how we can utilise these tools in our daily lives.

Conscious Conversations Season 3 is here.

Today we released episode 2 of this season’s Conscious Conversations Podcast with Mmabatho Montse. In this conversation, we speak to Rev. Djaloki Dessables about how we can revive, restore, and strengthen hope, faith, and trust in the hearts and minds of our community and the world at large.

Rev. Djalòki Jean-Luc Ntjitjagâgi Benjamin Dessables (he/him) is an ordained Interfaith minister, a cross-cultural consultant, a Oungan Asogwe (initiated Haitian Vodou "priest"), an Awareness Expansion Coach℠, an engineer, and an eternal seeker of the mysteries of life. He has lived, studied, worked, struggled, thrived, and played in several countries in the Global South and in the Global North.

Djalòki comes from Ayiti (Haiti) and has Taino, African, and European ancestry, which, he believes, makes him a prototype of the future 7th generation of earthlings (the great-grandchildren of our great-grandchildren), who will likely be of mixed origins for the most part, if they come to be.

Djalòki believes we all exist simultaneously as our current human expressions and as eternal spirits in alternate dimensions of consciousness, and beyond matter, space, and time. In this dimension, he believes that the time has come for the shift of global human consciousness prophesied by many ancient peoples. He feels called to invite his fellow human beings to remember our interconnectedness with each other, with the earth, and with everything else, and to reclaim, together, our good-spirited humanity. These days, you may find him engaging in self and collective awareness-raising of, and healing from the physical, social, cultural, environmental, psycho-emotional, and spiritual injuries mostly created and re-created by neo-colonialism and plutocratic capitalism.

Djalòki speaks Haitian Creole, French, Spanish, and English. He currently lives in the colonized land known as Costa Rica(*) with his wife Diane, an African-American ordained UCC minister and communitarian.

Through Conscious Conversations, we aim to create a collective safe space that encourages honest human connections, helping listeners reframe the self-limiting ideas they hold about themselves and their life experiences. We hope these podcasts will inspire deep and meaningful conversations that lead to intentional changes designed to facilitate healing and expansion.
